Blackcurrant & Manuka Honey
Why is manuka honey so special?
Manuka honey is widely regarded as the best quality honey in the world because of its amazing health and healing benefits. Containing natural antioxidants, enzymes, antimicrobial properties and a special natural ingredient, methylglyoxal or MGO as it’s commonly known which converts to produce potent and unique antimicrobial benefits that can be used in many ways to help support the healing process that the body needs to stay healthy. Manuka honey can contain more than 70 times the level of MGO Honey found in normal honeys.
What is raw honey?
Raw honey comes directly from the hives, there is minimal filtration and no heat treatment. This ensures all the valuable health benefits are retained in this delicious, nutritious food created by nature.
What is pasteurised honey?
Pasteurisation is a process that kills microganisms in honey with heat, unfortunately it also destroys many of the phytochemicals, antioxidants and nutrients in the honey, basically all the natural goodness.
What should I do if my honey crystallises?
Over time real honey will crystallise. Crystallisation is honey’s natural way of preserving itself. However, you can turn your honey into liquid again, all you need to do is put your honey jar in a pot of heated water and the crystals will melt.
Where should I store my honey?
The best place to store your honey is in a cool dry place out of the sun like your pantry. If stored in the refrigerator the crystallisation process may accelerate but that will not affect the quality of the honey in any way.
How do I know if my honey is real?
A simple test is to put a teaspoon in a cup of water, if it settles and stays together it is real honey however if it starts to separate it has been adulterated.
